Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba says the Chernobyl nuclear power plant has "lost all electric supply."
Kuleba made the announcement on his Twitter account at around 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
Kuleba wrote that the electrical grid supplying the plant and its facilities with power is within areas occupied by Russian forces and has been damaged.
He called on the international community to urgently demand that Russia "cease fire and allow repair units to restore power supply."
Kuleba wrote that "Reserve diesel generators have a 48-hour capacity to power" the plant. But he added, "After that, cooling systems of the storage facility for spent nuclear fuel will stop, making radiation leaks imminent."
