The International Atomic Energy Agency says there is "sufficient" cooling water for spent fuel at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, which has lost power supply. The plant, which experienced a nuclear disaster in 1986, has been occupied by Russian forces. In a tweet, the IAEA quoted its director general, Rafael Grossi, as saying the development violates a "key safety pillar on ensuring uninterrupted power supply." The IAEA also tweeted that the heat load of the spent fuel storage pool and the volume of the cooling water are sufficient for effective heat removal without electricity supply.
