Attacks on civilian facilities escalate in Ukraine NHK

More civilian facilities in Ukraine are under attack. Officials in the eastern city of Mariupol say three people including a child were killed in a Russian airstrike on a maternity hospital. They say 17 others were wounded.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia of war crimes.

He said, "The aerial bomb on the maternity hospital is the conclusive evidence that what is happening is a genocide of Ukrainians."

Satellite images released by a US firm show residential areas in Mariupol have been badly damaged.

The company points out damage to houses, apartment buildings, stores and other civilian facilities.

The UN says the number of civilians killed in Ukraine stands at 516, including 37 children.

A US Defense Department official says Russia has launched more than 710 missiles.

The official also says Russia is using unguided bombs that tend to miss their targets and hit civilian infrastructure.

The United States has rejected claims by Russia Ukraine is operating bio warfare labs with American support.

The White House warns that Russia could use the allegation as a pretext to use chemical weapons.
