Suspected Iranian missiles hit northern Iraq NHK

Officials in northern Iraq say missiles were fired towards the US consulate general in the city of Arbil, possibly from Iran.

The officials in the Kurdish autonomous region say 12 missiles were launched between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. No injuries have been reported.

The officials also say the missiles came from the east, from outside Iraq.

Iran has not reacted so far.

Indirect talks between the United States and Iran to salvage the 2015 nuclear deal have been suspended due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

If Iran is confirmed to have been involved in the attack, the tensions between Washington and Tehran could escalate.
