Turkey's foreign minister has revealed that he discussed with his Ukrainian and Russian counterparts a proposed framework to guarantee the security of Ukraine. Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke to reporters after meeting Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv on Thursday. Cavusoglu said Ukraine proposed that the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany and Turkey form an agreement to collectively guarantee the security of Ukraine. Cavusoglu also referred to his meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Wednesday. He said he believed that Russia had no objection and could accept such an offer. After the talks with Cavusoglu, Kuleba tweeted his gratitude to Turkey for its diplomatic efforts and humanitarian support. He wrote, "Turkey's solidarity remains unwavering." The Turkish presidential office issued a statement on Thursday, saying President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The statement said the Turkish leader offered to host talks in Turkey between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
