A Russian state TV journalist who interrupted a live news program to stage an anti-war protest says she intends to stay in Russia as a patriot. Marina Ovsyannikova, an employee at Channel One, spoke to European media outlets, and her interview was broadcast on Thursday. She says she has been working in the world news section and seen the whole picture of the war with reports from Russia, Ukraine and foreign media. But state-run television has not broadcast any footage of destroyed buildings and casualties in Ukraine. She says Russian state "propaganda" had been terrible even before the war, but her "point of no return" was Russia's invasion of Ukraine. She says most of the workers in state television understand what is going on, and they are struggling with the conflict between their work and their personal morality. Ovsyannikova, a mother of two, revealed that she is quitting her job at the broadcaster. She said her son thinks her action has "destroyed" their "family life." But she said this "madness" must be stopped before something like a nuclear war happens. She said when her son is a bit older, he will be able to understand her gesture.
