Russian President Vladimir Putin has attended a ceremony marking the eighth anniversary of his country's annexation of Crimea. A speech he gave was shown live on state television, but the broadcast was suddenly replaced with footage of a concert. The channel later started airing the speech from the beginning. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the interruption was due to a "technical problem on a server." About 100,000 people attended the ceremony in Moscow. Putin once again justified the ongoing invasion of Ukraine as a "special military operation". He said Russia's goal is to set people free from "suffering" and "genocide." He also defended the 2014 annexation of Crimea.
