The war in Ukraine has brought into question Russia&#039;s participation in the annual summit of the Group of Twenty later this year in Indonesia.
                
The G20 leaders are scheduled to meet in Bali in November. But the member countries are divided on whether Russian President Vladimir Putin should be allowed to attend.
                
One country that opposes Putin showing up is Australia. Prime Minister Scott Morrison says the Bali meeting should be held without what he calls invaders.
                
The remark came after the Russian ambassador to Indonesia said Putin intends to be at the summit.
Lyudmila Vorobieva said the West is trying to have her country expelled from international frameworks like the G20 but that the forum is aimed at resolving global economic problems, not the crisis in Ukraine.
                
She said &quot;the expulsion of Russia from this kind of forum will not help the economic problems be resolved. On the contrary, without Russia it would be difficult to do so.&quot;
                
Vorobieva urged Jakarta not to give in to pressure by the West. The country&#039;s foreign ministry on Thursday only said it is the duty of the forum&#039;s president to invite all member nations. Russia has already been expelled from what was the Group of Eight. That came after the country invaded and annexed Crimea in 2014.
                
China, meanwhile, is in favor of Putin attending. A foreign ministry spokesperson says Russia is an important member of the G20, and that no member has the right to demand the removal of another country.
