The Japanese movie &quot;Drive My Car&quot; has won the 2022 Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
                
This year&#039;s Academy Awards were announced in a Hollywood ceremony on Sunday.
                
After receiving the award, the film&#039;s director, Hamaguchi Ryusuke, said in English, &quot;Oh, you&#039;re the Oscar.&quot;
                
The director went on to thank his actors and those who were involved in the film, adding in Japanese, &quot;We&#039;ve won this!&quot;
                
The movie is based on a short story by Japanese author Murakami Haruki.
                
It depicts a stage actor and director who comes to terms with his late wife&#039;s secrets through interaction with a woman assigned as his chauffeur.
                
&quot;Drive My Car&quot; is the first Japanese film to win the prize since 2009 when &quot;Okuribito,&quot; or &quot;Departures&quot; won the Oscar in the category then known as Best Foreign Language Film.
                
&quot;Drive My Car&quot; had also been nominated for Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture.
                
The film won the best Screenplay Award at last year&#039;s Cannes Film Festival.
                
It also won this year&#039;s Golden Globe award for Best Picture in the non-English language category.
