Russian media conduct interview with Zelenskyy NHK

Russian media outlets have published their first interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy since Russia's invasion of its neighbor began.

Reporters from independent media Meduza and Dozhd, as well as from major newspaper Kommersant and another journalist spoke with Zelenskyy via video link. The interview was conducted in Russian.

In a video uploaded by Meduza, Zelenskyy talks about how Russia's invasion is having a destructive impact on all aspects of life in Ukraine.

Immediately after the interview was made public, Russia's telecommunications regulator warned the country's media to refrain from publishing the interview.

The watchdog said it is looking into the media that conducted the interview to determine their responsibility.

Russian prosecutors also released a statement. They said a massive volume of anti-Russian propaganda and false information is posted regularly, and threatened to launch an investigation into the media that carried the interview.
