Russian defense minister Sergei Shoigu has reiterated that the country's military operation in Ukraine will focus on the eastern region of Donbass.
In a video clip released by the ministry on Tuesday, Shoigu said the main goal of the first stage of the operation has been accomplished.
He also said the combat potential of the Ukrainian forces has been significantly decreased, allowing Russians to focus their attention and efforts on achieving the main goal of liberating the Donbass region.
Shoigu said Russia is monitoring possible movements by NATO members to supply Ukraine with air defense systems and other equipment.
He warned if that happens, Moscow will respond appropriately.
The minister has been drawing much attention amid reports that Russian troops are struggling in Ukraine.
This is the first time since Saturday that the ministry has disclosed his movements.
