Peskov: Military operations will continue if peace talks are not promising NHK

Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov says it would become clear on Tuesday or Wednesday if the ceasefire talks between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey were promising.

Peskov said on Tuesday that if the negotiations didn't appear hopeful, Russian military operations would continue.

The spokesperson said Russian billionaire, Roman Abramovich, is involved in enabling contacts between the Russian and Ukrainian sides. Abramovich has close ties with President Vladimir Putin.

Peskov said that Abramovich was not an official member of Russia's delegation but he was present in Istanbul on the Russian side.

Peskov referred to reports that Abramovich and two Ukrainian negotiators suffered symptoms of suspected poisoning earlier this month. He denied the reports saying they were part of an information war.
