Expo 2020 Dubai wraps up NHK

Expo 2020 Dubai has wrapped up after a one-year delay due to the coronavirus pandemic. The next host will be the Japanese city of Osaka in 2025.

Dubai's closing ceremony was held on Thursday.
In attendance were Japan's Minister for World Expo 2025, Wakamiya Kenji, and Osaka Governor Yoshimura Hirofumi.

The expo opened in the largest city of the United Arab Emirates in October last year, running six months.
Many countries took part, including Japan.

Organizers say nearly 23 million people, or 90 percent of the target figure, visited even though it coincided with the pandemic.

Osaka's governor said the scale of the next world fair will be smaller compared to that in Dubai. He said his city will need to be creative with its themes and content to attract people.
