Malaysia and Singapore have fully reopened the border crossing between them for vaccinated travelers, who won't need to undergo testing or quarantine. The one-kilometer Johor-Singapore Causeway is one of the busiest border crossings in the world. It was closed in March 2020, and reopened on Friday morning. People came across by car and on foot. Since November, people could only cross in specially designated buses. More than 350,000 people a day used to cross before the causeway closed early in the pandemic. Its reopening is seen as a significant milestone toward living with Covid. Local analysts believe the return of cross-border travel will be good for the economies of both countries, helping ease Singapore's labor shortage in various sectors.
