Ohtani hits first training game homer NHK

In Major League Baseball, Japanese two-way star Ohtani Shohei of the Los Angeles Angels has belted out his first home run of the spring training games.

Ohtani was a designated hitter against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday in Glendale, Arizona.

He was originally scheduled to pitch, but that was scratched to avoid fatigue so he will be in the best possible shape for the opening game of the season on April 7. Ohtani is expected to be starting pitcher for his team for the first time.

As the game started on Saturday, Ohtani was the first at bat. He connected with the first pitch to belt out a homer.

He walked in the second inning and swung and missed in the fourth.
Ohtani finished the game with one hit, and one run batted in.
