International researchers say they have discovered the most distant star ever, which is about 12.9 billion light-years from Earth. The research team includes astronomers from Japan's Chiba University. They used the Hubble Space Telescope to find the star, which they estimate to be at least 50 times the mass of the sun. The researchers say they located it about four billion light-years farther away than the previous record for a distant star observed.
