The Japanese government plans to accept more Ukrainian evacuees, including those who have no relatives or acquaintances in Japan.
                
Under the plan, the evacuees will be tested for the coronavirus before their departure and upon their arrival in Japan.
                
Those who have relatives or acquaintances in Japan will quarantine at their homes and will be allowed to live with them after testing negative on the third day.
                
The evacuees without relatives or acquaintances in Japan will stay for three days in accommodation facilities designated by quarantine authorities. After testing negative on the third day, they will move into hotel rooms secured by the government.
                
During the hotel stays, officials from the Foundation for the Welfare and Education of the Asian People and from the Immigration Services Agency will be in charge of providing meals, translation devices and other daily necessities.
                
The officials will also conduct hearings on the evacuees&#039; requests, such as where they want to stay, and help match them with municipalities and businesses that are willing to support evacuees.
                
The government is now considering covering the costs for daily needs and medical care, as well as Japanese language lessons, job training and education for children. Government officials are said to be planning to provide evacuees with living expenses for about six months after their entry into Japan.
                
The government plans to grant Ukrainian evacuees short-term 90-day visas, before offering the option of obtaining one-year visas that enable them to work.
