NATO diplomats discuss Ukraine aid NHK

NATO foreign ministers have seen the pictures from the Kyiv suburb of Bucha and the devastation elsewhere in Ukraine. They gathered in Brussels on Wednesday to discuss more ways to help.

The ministers want to provide Ukrainians with more weapons to defend themselves. And they want to shore up their own defenses.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said he has seen no indication that Russian President Vladimir Putin has changed his ambition to control Ukraine. He said the alliance needs to be prepared for the "long haul."

Ukraine's Foreign Minister will join the meetings. Dmytro Kuleba wants NATO to provide planes, tanks, and surface-to-air defense systems.

Ministers from some other allies will also join the talks including those from Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Finland, and Georgia.
