A toy factory in Saitama Prefecture, near Tokyo, is aiming to support children in Ukraine with its products. "Comomg" in Kawaguchi City is a toy factory that specializes in making wooden toys for babies. Its employees discussed if there was anything they could do to help Ukrainian children. The factory began making toys in a mushroom-shape with polka dots in the same blue and yellow colors as the Ukrainian flag. The toys with beads inside make sounds when tilted. In early March, the factory began selling them for 1,800 yen, or about 15 dollars, and donating half of the profits to international NGO Save the Children. The factory says so far it has sold about 840 such toys and donated about 6,000 dollars. A man in his 20s bought one of them for his one-year-old son. He said he bought it as the purchase will lead to support for Ukrainian children. He said he wants to tell his son later about the importance of peace and kindness. The factory says it receives inquiries from not only families with children but elderly people. The factory's president Komatsu Kazuto says people have a keen interest in supporting Ukraine. He also said when people see children playing with the toy, he wants them to think of Ukrainians who have been deprived of their normal daily lives. He added that he is happy if children learn why the toy was made and think about the importance of peace when they grow old enough to understand the meaning of war and peace.
