It says the leaders will "further raise the cost of this war" for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his "accomplices."
The statement says the leaders are "banning new investment in key sectors of the Russian economy, including the energy sector."
The leaders will also speed up plans to reduce reliance on Russian energy, which include efforts at "phasing out and banning Russian coal imports."
The statement adds the G7 will ramp up its "campaign against the elites and their family members who support President Putin in his war effort and squander the resources of the Russian people."
The United States and Britain unveiled additional sanctions against Russia on Wednesday and expressed their intention to work with other G7 countries.
