Civilian casualties increase in eastern Ukraine NHK

Authorities in eastern Ukraine say at least six people have been injured by Russian attacks on an airport and the infrastructure around it.

Ukrainian officials said Russian forces fired rockets into the Dnipro region on Sunday, destroying the airport and causing fires in the area.

They reported that rockets were fired again targeting the same location when firefighting work was underway. Officials said that of the six people who sustained injuries in the attacks, one is in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said on Sunday that the death toll from Friday's missile strike on the train station in Kramatorsk has risen to 57. The victims include five children.

Ukraine has criticized Russia for using cluster munitions, which are banned by an international convention.

However, Russia has denied any responsibility, saying that Ukrainian troops carried out the attack.
