Austria's Chancellor Karl Nehammer says he will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday in an effort to stop Russia's "aggression" in Ukraine. Nehammer will be the first leader of the European Union's member states to visit Russia and meet Putin face-to-face since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February. As a permanently neutral country, Austria is not a member of the NATO military alliance. Nehammer tweeted on Sunday that his country is militarily neutral, but it has a clear stance on "the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine." He stressed that Putin has to stop. The Austrian leader is expected to call for a ceasefire and humanitarian corridors. Nehammer met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Saturday. He said he informed Zelenskyy and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen of his planned visit to Russia. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed with state-run news agency TASS that Putin will be holding talks with Nehammer on Monday.
