The Japanese government has finalized the amount of financial support it will offer Ukrainian evacuees who have no relatives or acquaintances in Japan. During their stays at government-designated hotels, in addition to free meals, each evacuee aged 12 or older will be given about 8 dollars per day, and younger children will each receive half that amount. After leaving for housing provided by municipalities or businesses, evacuees age 12 and up will be offered about 20 dollars per day. In households with more than one evacuee in this category, each of the rest of the members will get about 13 dollars a day, and each child will receive about 10 dollars. The government will also provide each evacuee aged 16 or older with a lump sum of nearly 1,300 dollars for purchasing daily needs after they leave the hotels. Children will receive half that amount. The government also plans to cover the costs of medical care, Japanese language lessons and job training for evacuees.
