NY subway shooting suspect faces federal terrorism charge NHK

Law enforcement officials in New York City on Wednesday arrested a man on suspicion of shooting 10 people on a subway train the day before. Another 13 people were treated for smoke inhalation and other injuries.

Earlier the police identified 62-year-old Frank James as a possible suspect after finding keys to a rental vehicle at the scene. They disclosed his name and photos, and asked the public for tips.

Federal prosecutors said James fired some 30 shots inside the subway car. He faces a federal terror charge of attacking a mass transit system.

James is believed to have posted a video on social media that appears to criticize efforts by New York City Mayor Eric Adams to boost security on the subway system.
