The British government says it has sanctioned an additional two Russian oligarchs, freezing assets worth up to 10 billion pounds, or about 13 billion dollars. The government announced the sanctions against Eugene Tenenbaum and David Davidovich on Thursday, calling it "the largest asset freeze action in UK history." The two men are described as longstanding business associates of Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich, who has already been sanctioned by Britain. The government says it has sanctioned 106 oligarchs, their family members and associates since Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Oligarchs are wealthy business tycoons thought to have close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said in a statement that the government will continue to apply the sanctions until Putin fails in Ukraine.
