New Zealand&#039;s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is to arrive in Japan on Wednesday.
                
Ardern is on her first foreign visit since the pandemic broke out. She is set to start her 4-day visit to Japan, after leaving Singapore.
                
Ardern is expected to promote her country&#039;s plan to resume accepting tourists and students, as a way to revitalize the economy.
                
New Zealand&#039; strict anti-infection measures, such as an entry ban on foreign nationals and restrictions on outings for residents, took a toll on the economy. The country&#039;s economy shrank for two quarters in a row in 2020.
                
The government is set to accept visa-waiver travelers, including those from Japan, from May.
                
She is scheduled to meet Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.
