French judicial authorities have issued an international arrest warrant for former Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn in connection with allegations that he misused funds of Nissan's partner Renault. The French authorities told NHK on Friday that they have issued warrants for Ghosn, the owner of an auto dealer in Oman and others. French media say the warrants were issued over suspicious payments from Renault, which Ghosn headed, to the Omani dealership. An in-house probe by the French automaker has implicated Ghosn in dubious payments to the dealer. He is also suspected of misusing the company's funds for his own wedding reception at the Palace of Versailles. Ghosn was initially arrested in Japan in 2018, where he faced charges of financial misconduct while leading Nissan. But he jumped bail and fled to Lebanon. French authorities have interviewed the disgraced auto tycoon twice in Lebanon as part of a preliminary process to determine whether the case should be tried in court. Ghosn was already on Interpol's wanted list before the French authorities took action, based on Japan's request.
