The Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights says that as of Sunday, at least 3,153 civilians had been killed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion started on February 24. The figure includes 226 children. The agency says 1,638 of the deaths were in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, and 1,515 in the regions that include Kyiv, Kharkiv in the east, Chernihiv in the north, and Kherson in the south. It also says 3,316 civilians have been injured. The agency says it believes the actual number of deaths and injuries is far higher. It cites delays in receiving information and difficulty corroborating reports from Mariupol and other areas that are under heavy bombardment by Russian forces.
