Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for continued assistance in the evacuation of citizens from the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, eastern Ukraine.
The Ukrainian presidential office reported on its official website on Wednesday that Zelenskyy made the request during a phone conversation with Guterres.
It said that Zelenskyy thanked Guterres personally for his efforts to evacuate citizens from Azovstal.
The office quoted Zelenskyy as saying, "The lives of the people who remain there are in danger. Everyone is important to us. We ask for your help in saving them."
