A charity orchestra concert for Ukraine has been held near Tokyo, featuring the performance of a Ukrainian singer.
About 2,100 people attended the event on Sunday in the city of Yokohama. It was co-sponsored by Kanagawa Prefecture and other entities. The Ukrainian region of Odesa and Kanagawa have friendly exchanges.
Ukrainian soprano Oksana Stepanyuk performed with the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra. Stepanyuk said she is very grateful for the concert and all the support for Ukraine.
The audience gave a standing ovation when the Ukrainian national anthem was played at the end of the concert.
The Kanagawa governor and local high school students appealed for donations at the venue.
The ticket revenue and all donations will be used to provide humanitarian assistance to Ukraine through the Japanese Red Cross Society.
