Britain pledges to give Ukraine additional military support NHK

The British government says it will provide a further 1.3 billion pounds, or about 1.6 billion dollars, in military support to Ukraine.

The announcement was made before the virtual Group of Seven leaders' meeting on Sunday.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson told the group that Ukraine needs to receive military equipment that will allow the country to not just hold ground in Ukraine, but recapture it.

The British government says the funding will go towards equipment, such as a counter-battery radar system.

It says the latest commitment is in addition to the country's support package for Ukraine that is worth 1.5 billion pounds, or about 1.8 billion dollars.
