Japanese Major League Baseball two-way star Ohtani Shohei responded to cheering fans at a ceremony to honor his American League MVP Award last year.

The ceremony took place at the Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, on Tuesday.

On a table in the baseball field were a number of trophies for the awards Ohtani won during the last season, including the MVP award and the Commissioner's Historic Achievement Award.

Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno presented Ohtani with a relief commemorating the MVP award. Fans cheered, shouting "MVP, MVP."

The first 25,000 fans in attendance received an Ohtani bobblehead.

The ceremony was originally scheduled for January in New York. However, the event was canceled due to the Major League baseball lockout and the resurgence of coronavirus infections.
