Toyota Motor says it posted record group sales and net profit for fiscal 2021 despite a global shortage of semiconductors. That's due to robust sales in North America and Asia as well as a weaker yen against the dollar. The Japanese automaker says sales were just over 31.3 trillion yen or about 240 billion dollars for the year that ended in March. That's up 15 percent in yen terms from the previous year. Net income stood at 2.85 trillion yen or about 21.8 billion dollars, up almost 27 percent. But Toyota forecasts lower net profit of 2.26 trillion yen or around 17 billion dollars for the current fiscal year. It cites higher raw material costs and the gloomy global economic outlook partly due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
