The Tokyo Metropolitan Government says it confirmed 4,764 new cases of coronavirus infection in the capital on Wednesday. The city's daily count is over 1,700 higher than a week ago, and marks the fifth straight day of week-on-week increase. Tokyo officials say eight patients are in serious condition and being treated with ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines. The figure is down by one from Tuesday.
