Russia to host military alliance summit next week NHK

Russia's presidential office says the country will host a summit meeting of a Russia-led military alliance next week.

The office said on Thurasday that the leaders of all six member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, or CSTO, will attend the meeting in Moscow on Monday.

The participants include Russian President Vladimir Putin, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

On Thursday, Finland's president and prime minister said in a joint statement that their country should apply for NATO membership without delay. The move would end Finland's military non-alignment.
The announcement came amid increasing tension between Russia and NATO nations due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Russia's Foreign Ministry has warned Finland against joining NATO.
