South Korea says North Koreans remain unresponsive to its offer to help tackle the spread of the coronavirus. South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said in a speech at the National Assembly on Monday that his government is ready to provide any necessary support, including medicine, vaccines, medical equipment and healthcare personnel. Following the speech, the South's Ministry of Unification offered to deliver a message to the North proposing a dialogue between the Koreas to expedite medical assistance. But officials revealed that the North has not said whether or not it will accept the message. North Korea meanwhile on Tuesday criticized the South on the website of its committee for peaceful reunification. It criticized Yoon for saying in his inauguration speech that he is ready to present an audacious plan that will vastly improve the North's economy and the life of its people if the North genuinely embarks on a process to complete denuclearization. The website also called the plans copies of those made by former South's president Lee Myung-bak, who suggested massive economic aid to the North in return for denuclearization during his tenure from 2008 to 2013. The article insisted that the strategic position of the North today is different compared to that time.
