China: Taiwan issues must be handled in accordance with "one-China principle" NHK

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson says Taiwan's participation in international organizations, including WHO activities, must be handled in accordance with the "one-China principle."

Zhao Lijian made the remark at a news conference on Thursday. He said Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory.

Zhao expressed opposition to a statement made by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday. Blinken said the US strongly advocates for the WHO to invite Taiwan to attend the annual World Health Assembly as an observer.

Zhao said the United States should stop using the assembly to amplify issues concerning Taiwan.

He then said any acts that aim to use Taiwan to contain China will be met with opposition from many parties in the international community.
