Japan's government is to require firms with more than 300 workers to disclose any gap between the wages paid to men and women. Prime Minister Kishida Fumio revealed the plan at a Friday meeting on economic policy attended by concerned government officials and experts from the private sector. The prime minister said that the requirement is part of the drive to close the gap and ensure that women are paid higher wages. He went on to say that he aims to put the measure into effect in the coming weeks.
