Trade chiefs of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum members have ended their meeting without a joint statement due to their differences over Russia. The delegates from 21 economies wrapped up their two-day talks on Sunday in the Thai capital Bangkok after discussing regional trade and investment. Japanese government sources say the delegates were divided over their stance towards Russia, which continues its invasion of Ukraine. Japan's trade minister Hagiuda Koichi told reporters that at every session he attended, he criticized Russia's aggression as a breach of international law that must not be tolerated. He joined the delegates of the United States, Canada and other nations in walking out of the meeting when Russia's economic development minister Maxim Reshetnikov was delivering remarks. Hagiuda said he wanted Russia to understand the grave nature of the current situation.
