US President Joe Biden is meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio in Tokyo. It is Biden&#039;s first visit since he took office. With concerns over Japan&#039;s neighbors in the background, there is a lot on their agenda.
                
Kishida and Biden started their meeting at the State Guest House shortly after 11 a.m. on Monday. They are expected to meet for about an hour.
                
Security is tight. 18,000 police officers have been mobilized in the city for the meetings this week. Lots of helicopters were in the air and busloads of police could be seen arriving this morning to keep people and traffic out of this area.
                
Biden spent the past two days in South Korea. A major theme of his meetings with the country&#039;s new leader was North Korea, especially how to deal with its repeated missile tests.
                
He arrived in Tokyo on Sunday evening, and his first event here was a Monday morning visit with Japanese Emperor Naruhito.
                
Biden will spend most of the day with Prime Minister Kishida. They are expected to talk about how to deal with the growing pressures from China. North Korea and the Russian invasion of Ukraine will likely also be part of their talks. Analysts say Biden&#039;s big aim in Japan is to get on the same page on security, especially as it relates to what the US calls its most serious competitor.
                
After the meeting here, the two leaders will have lunch together and speak to reporters.
                
Later on, Biden will meet the families of people abducted by North Korea in the 1970s and 80s.
                
Biden will also hold a media conference to discuss a new economic framework for the Indo-Pacific, known as IPEF.
