The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 3,929 new cases of the coronavirus in the capital on Wednesday. The figure is down about 400 from a week ago, for a 12th straight day of week-on-week decline. Officials said eight people infected with the coronavirus died. They also said the number of seriously ill patients on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines was four, the same as on Tuesday.
