A gunman walked into an elementary school in Texas on Tuesday and started shooting. He killed 14 students and a teacher. Police said the gunman was a high school student who was 18 years old. They said he entered the elementary school with a handgun just before midday then started firing. Police later shot and killed him. The Governor of Texas said parents have "every expectation" that they are going to be able to pick up their child when the school day ends. Greg Abbott said all Texans are grieving for the victims. Americans learn of mass shootings every week. Earlier this month, a gunman walked into a supermarket in New York state and started firing at shoppers. He killed 10 people, all of them Black. Officials with the Federal Bureau of Investigation said, last year, active shooter incidents were up more than 50 percent.
