UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has renewed his call for dialogue on the 100th day of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Guterres issued a statement on Friday to mark the day. He said, "The conflict has already taken thousands of lives, caused untold destruction, displaced millions of people, resulted in unacceptable violations of human rights." He said, "I renew my call for an immediate halt to violence, for unfettered humanitarian access to all those in need," and "for safe evacuation of civilians." Guterres went on to say, "Resolving this conflict will require negotiations and dialogue." He stressed that the sooner the parties engage in diplomatic efforts, the better for Ukraine, Russia and the world. He concluded the statement by saying, "The United Nations stands ready to support all such efforts."
