100,000 dollars for Zelenskyy's shirt at auction to help Ukraine NHK

A traditional embroidered shirt worn by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has fetched 100,000 dollars at an auction to help his country defend and rebuild itself.

The auction was held in Washington on Friday, which marked 100 days since Russia launched its invasion.
The Ukrainian government was among the organizers.

Zelenskyy, in a video message, thanked the participants. He said that the event is not only for fundraising but it is also one way to prove to Russia that evil will not win.

Lots included the national flag of Ukraine with Zelenskyy's autograph and fragments of the world's largest cargo plane that was destroyed in a Russian attack.

The president launched a crowdfunding site in May to collect charitable donations for Ukraine. It says more than 50 million dollars have so far been donated.
