Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba has criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for his call to not humiliate Russia. In an interview with French newspapers published on Friday, Macron said Russian President Vladimir Putin committed a "historic and fundamental" error in invading Ukraine. But he added that Russia must not be humiliated "so that the day the fighting stops, we can build a way out through diplomatic channels." The next day Kuleba posted a message on Twitter in response, saying that "calls to avoid humiliation of Russia can only humiliate France and every other country that would call for it." Macron stresses the need to step up sanctions on Russia, but also attaches importance to continued dialogue. He spoke with Putin in May.
