Medical startup booster launched in Kawasaki NHK

Businesses and officials in Kawasaki City near Tokyo are looking to foster medical startups by launching a project to help young companies in the field grow and gain global insights.

The project was kicked off with a ceremony at the city's research and development center, King Skyfront.

Firms can receive advice from Biolabs in the US. The company has a track record of assisting startups. Participating firms can also exchange information with Biolabs centers in Europe.

Startups can conduct research at a lab near Tokyo's Haneda Airport run by the Kawasaki Institute of Industrial Promotion.

They will be able to process microscopic materials and use clean rooms to produce prototype medical equipment. The organizers plan to select up to 17 companies for the project.
