Britain's ruling party is set to hold a vote of confidence in its leader, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, on Monday evening.

Johnson has come under criticism over a series of parties held at the prime minister's residence and elsewhere amid strict coronavirus restrictions.

House of Commons members belonging to the ruling Conservative Party will cast votes.

If Johnson fails to win a majority of the votes, he will not be able to run in an election to choose a new party leader. Depending on the outcome, he may be forced to resign as prime minister.
