Apple unveils notebook PCs with new in-house chip NHK

Apple has unveiled two notebook computers powered by a new in-house chip with enhanced image-processing capability. The US IT giant also announced that its smartphone messaging app will allow users to edit a text after it has been sent.

Apple is holding its annual developers conference this week. The firm on Monday invited engineers and reporters to its headquarters in California for the first time in three years.

The company said the new versions of its MacBook will be launched in July. They will be thinner and lighter than the previous models.

They feature a new semiconductor designed by Apple. The company says it allows users to enjoy games and videos with higher image quality.

Apple also said a new operating system for its iPhones is coming later this year. Besides editing sent messages, users will be able to anchor the icons of their favorite apps on the lock screen.

However, Apple did not announce any new device or operating system designed for virtual reality.
