Japan's largest opposition Constitutional Democratic Party has submitted no-confidence motions against the Cabinet of Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and the Lower House Speaker Hosoda Hiroyuki. Party leader Izumi Kenta told reporters on Wednesday that the government has not taken any action against soaring prices. He said it cannot protect people's lives or restore Japan's economy. The party says Hosoda is not qualified for his post because he has repeatedly commented on a plan to rezone Lower House single-seat constituencies. Voting on both motions will take place at a Lower House plenary session on Thursday. In the opposition camp, the Social Democratic Party and the Japanese Communist Party support the motions. Kishida's Liberal Democratic Party and its coalition partner Komeito hold more than 60 percent of the Lower House seats.
