The Bank of Japan's next policy meeting is about a month away, and some are already turning their attention toward a possible rate hike. But the Bank of Japan chief says that at this point it's impossible to foresee the result. BOJ Governor Ueda Kazuo made the remarks at an event in Tokyo on Thursday. He gave a speech and then took questions from participants. Ueda pointed out that there's about one month until the policy meeting in December, and in that time a lot of data will come out. He said it is impossible to foresee the meeting's outcome. Ueda stressed that the BOJ will make judgements at policy meetings after reviewing the latest economic indicators. Foreign exchange markets saw volatile moves after his comments were reported, with the yen strengthening immediately. Some investors interpreted the remarks as signaling that the BOJ may raise interest rates at the next meeting, prompting them to buy the yen.
